Education & Training
In
1970 obtained a "Captains Letter" from the Swedish Board of
Nautical Authority, certified to take up to 300 ton cargo
or 14 paying passenger in commercial traffic. Had advanced
seamanship training in the Swedish navy in 1964.
Sailing experience
Started
to sail as crew on 40-foot mahogany yacht in 1956. Participated
actively in Swedish National championship for M22's where
I finished 3rd place in 1962. Have owned 3 sailboats. Was
teaching and training junior sailors for the local yacht club
in 1960. From the period of 1968 to 1972 was Captain on the
Nordic Schooner "Gustaf Adolf" a 110-foot two-masted sailing
and motor vessel.
Merchant Marine
Sailed
on M/V Madam Butterfly from Germany through the Panama canal
to Vancouver in 1962. The ship passed Cuba in November 1962
and was in the midst of the "Cuban crises".
Swedish Navy
Trained
as a Torpedo boat helmsman with the grade of Corporal in the
Swedish navy from November 1963 to January 1965.
Major trips and expeditions
Have
circumnavigated the entire Red Sea on two separate diving
and filming expeditions, visiting every country surrounding
the Red Sea and all major ports and coral reefs. Have crossed
the Red Sea on 7 other diving expeditions. This was done on
a 35 foot Grand Banks trawler or similar vessel.
During the 80-90's I have charted 30 - 40 foot sailboats and
cruised in:
The Pacific, from Seychelles to Amirantes
The Bahamas, from Ft Lauderdale to Bermuda
The Mediterranean, from the Suez canal via Cyprus to Rhodes
The Atlantic, from Sweden to Norway
The Baltic, from Sweden to Finland
The Mediterranean, from Genoa to Monaco
